Putting Up Hay

Remember last year when we put up hay? Early summer is usually hay time around here.  The fields were tall, so the farmer came to cut it: It has to dry out before it can be baled. In past years, it has rained after it’s cut, which results in having to wait longer before baling […]

5K Color Run

Exercise is something important to our family so we can stay healthy. All of the boys run cross country and track. Last Saturday we all participated in a 5K Color Run, to help raise money to fight cancer! All of the children ran the race, while Jim and I chose to just walk it. Before […]

Getting a Shave

It’s starting to get hot here in Indiana. The goats have lots of woods to escape to that are much cooler, yet for some strange reason, they prefer to hang out at the barn where it is hottest. The black goats are the ones that feel it the most, so we’ve started giving them their […]

Baby Goats Visiting the Nursing Home

Remember when we brought some baby goats to the nursing home? We did it again! Emery, Fletcher, Greyden, Hewitt, Indigo, Jade, and Dad brought two or three of our youngest babies to visit. The residents loved it! The babies gave them kisses, and nibbled on their fingers, and even let some of the residents hold them. The […]

Tabasco and Teaberry

It was a pretty typical day the day Tapioca gave birth. Everyone was tired, kidding season was wearing down as were we, and the milk room was a mess from all the first fresheners running around during milking and not being used to the way we bring them in and out. Like I said, typical […]

Black Cherry Grape Goat Milk Soap

Every month we release limited edition soap scents. For the month of May, we have released Strawberries & Champagne, Nag Champa, Confetti,  and of course, Black Cherry Grape. It’s a combination of several different fragrances that gives it a strong fruity smell, that almost smells of fruit juice. This warm, rich, fruity smell puts you […]

Knitting For Playmobil

All my kids have enjoyed playmobil at some point during their childhood. But as they have gotten older, some of them have “outgrown” it. Fletcher, Hewitt, Indigo, and Jade however all still very much love playmobil*, and regularly request it for their birthdays and Christmas. Recently, those who still play with playmobil, had the idea […]

Gaston and Gepetto

We were never sure if Galaxy was even pregnant until the last week before she kidded. She stayed rather under the radar and was very active during her pregnancy. Notoriously, Galaxy is a strange goat. She is never hanging around a certain goat crowd, or sleeping next to her siblings, or really doing anything that […]

Confetti Goat Milk Soap

Limited Editions

Confetti is a mix of a variety of scents. While trying to come up with a name for it, everyone smelled something different! It has a strong spice smell (reminiscent of the Cranberry Spice soap) but we’ve also detected everything from floral to tropical. We decided Confetti best described this complex scent.

Newsies

Everyone in our family absolutely LOVES musicals.  While we were visiting New York City, we had the opportunity to see three broadway musicals, including Newsies. My siblings and I absolutely love the Newsies movie*, so we couldn’t pass up the chance to see the play. It was absolutely amazing, and we couldn’t stop talking about it. […]

Tablet

Tempest is one of our most beautiful goats. Her udder filled up beautifully throughout her pregnancy and there is not a weak part about her buildup. Even her attitude is great. Tempest had dropped so low that anyone who didn’t know goats would have thought she had 10 babies in her. We had been watching […]

Almond & OMH Shampoo Soap

Goat Milk Stuff makes a shampoo bar for natural hair care in a few different scents, including Rosemary Mint, Tea Tree, and Unscented. This month, we have a limited run of Almond and OMH scented shampoo bars. The Almond is made with almond essential oil, and smells like sweet cherries. The OMH is scented with […]

Chicken Treats

I was walking past the barn the other day, and I noticed Greyden standing in very wet clumpy mud, digging with his hands. Me: “Greyden what are you doing?” Greyden: “I’m looking for worms for the chickens!” Apparently right after it rains, all of the worms are close to the surface of the ground, which […]

Hewitt Loves Me

We’re not a big gift-giving family.  Instead, we spend a lot more time doing things with (and for) each other.  So it didn’t come as a surprise (or disappointment) that I didn’t get any store-bought gifts for Mother’s Day this year. Instead, I got a really awesome gift from Hewitt.  He made me this: It’s an […]
