Idina and Iliana

Ivy is one of Colter’s favorite goats.  He has been wanting a doeling out of her since we got her.

The first year we had her – a single buck.  The second year – a single buck.  Last year, she had a buckling and a doeling that didn’t survive kidding.  This year…

twin doelings!!

Yes – she finally gave us the girls we’ve been waiting for.  We named them Idina and Iliana (for all you Frozen* fans out there, that should sound familiar).  We’re calling Iliana “Ana”.

It was a pretty slow, but otherwise easy labor and delivery.  We did a lot of standing around and waiting while Ivy grunted.  And grunted… and grunted!

The cats got to play around while we were all waiting.

Finally, Idina was born.

And a few minutes later, Iliana joined the family.

After what happened with Red Bird, we are all very relieved with a safe and healthy delivery.

Six pregnant goats done. Eleven more to go!

Kid count: 5 bucklings. 7 doelings.

  1. Thank you so much for taking time out of the busy kidding season to post these sweet and informative goat birth stories! We hope to get sheep or goats eventually for our small farm, and I have learned so much from you all. Keep up the good work!

    • I’m so glad to hear that! Hope you love them when you get them. They’re a lot of work, but we wouldn’t trade it! PJ
