All of the children are supposed to be sleeping because we have to get up wicked early tomorrow. We have a soap show (Madison Old Court Days) that is an hour away and we have to be completely set up by 9:00 am.
Instead of sleeping, Colter just came into the living room so we could have the following conversation.
Cole: I’ve been thinking of some crazy inventions.
Me: You should be thinking about sleeping.
Cole: Do you want to know what some of them are?
Me: (Sighing inwardly) Of course – although I’d prefer to hear about them in the morning.
Cole: (undaunted) Well one of them is a parachute that opens upon impact.
Me: Nice. Good night, Colter.
Cole: (still undaunted) Another one is an upward ejection seat on a helicopter.
Me: Gross. Good night, Colter.
Cole: And…
Me (quickly interjecting) Good NIGHT, Colter.
Cole: ‘Night Mom.
What do you think – is he sleeping or coming up with more crazy inventions. I know which one I’m betting on.
Gotta love that kid.
