About two seconds after I’d finished putting Varsity’s collar on, someone threw open the door to the milk room and announced that Persephone was kidding!

Unfortunately, because I was with Varsity and Vereena, and Mom was busy doing what I usually do, we don’t have any pictures of the birth. But it wasn’t long before someone pushed open the door and said, “we have a live buckling!”

At that point, I had to run back to the house for something, so I wasn’t even there when they brought him into the milk room. But when I got back, I found an adorable little buckling standing up next to Varsity and Vereena. It took me a little while to find someone who could remember his name, because the others were already moving on to Thalia, who was apparently ready to have her kids too!

Colter told me his name was Parcells – apparently that’s another football name? – before he went back to cleaning out kidding pen A so we could move Thalia in there. Valley had already been kicked out, and everyone was trying to pull everything together so we could handle our third birth of the night.

I went back to the milk room and got Parcell’s collar on him before I grabbed a pile of towels and headed back out to kidding pen A – everything else I normally did could wait until we had some time to breathe!
