Visiting the Nursing Home

Remember when we brought baby goats to our local nursing home in the spring?  The same facility contacted me to see if I could come speak to them.  Unfortunately, I had a conflict, but Jim and some of the children were able to go.

The children were going to do some of the talking, but because it was over such a large space, Jim decided to talk so that he could project his voice better.

But the children got to walk around and talk to some individuals.

And then, they even got to eat!

Jim said it was a success and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  I’m so glad for opportunities to teach the children to give back.

  1. I remember going to nursing homes as a young teen with Job’s Daughters. It was always a wonderful experience. It can make you feel so good when you bring a smile to someone’s face when they are needing it. Also our elders can teach us valuable lessons about how this country was long before we were born. They have seen more changes in their life time than I think any of us could ever imaging. It is wonderful that your children are learning about valuing our seniors.

    • I agree. It is so important for children to realize that elderly people can still add value and that we can serve them simply by giving some of our time and attention. 🙂 PJ

  2. Thank you so much for the time you have spent at that location, my mother in law now lives there and all of you are such a delight to the residents. I would love to see your visits becoming a quarterly event.

    • We’ll see what happens, Nina! We definitely plan to bring baby goats again in the Spring. 🙂
