Our new house is not yet finished, so we’ve been commuting back and forth from Charlestown to Scottsburg every day. It’s about a 25 minute drive and while we’ll be happy when we no longer need to do it, the commute isn’t too terrible.
But during kidding season, being 25 minutes away was outside of our comfort zone, so we spent about 2 weeks sleeping at the new property. Most of us slept in the soap room, except three of the boys who slept in the barn. We would make occasional trips back to Charlestown to do laundry, feed the cats, and take quick showers.
One night while we were sleeping at the soap room, Jade got sick and vomited. The next day she was in desperate need of a bath. One of the goats was going to deliver that day, so we didn’t feel comfortable going back to Charlestown to bathe her.
Instead, Jim decided to make use of his soap room sink. Our contractor, Lucky, found us this huge, used stainless steel sink for the soaproom. Jim scrubbed it out and it made the perfect bath tub for Jade.
Of course, she was having so much fun that Indigo decided to join her:
And then I made Hewitt get in as well (on the other side) because he smelled like a goat:
The special faucet was perfect for rinsing them off:
or squirting the girls…
and threatening Hewitt…
It worked great!!
looks like they had a ball!!!!! What a special memory for everyone 🙂
They did! And so did Jim and I watching them. 🙂
wow! That looks like so much fun!
It was a lot of fun to watch! 🙂 PJ
Sink baths are the BEST!! I can remember visiting my Granny in WV when I was a little girl and having to bathe in the sink (she didn’t have an indoor bath or toilet). Fun times!!
That’s awesome, I love it! Jade is still talking about it, so I think she agrees with you. 🙂 PJ
I miss those sinks and faucets from my chefing days!
It would be handy in the kitchen!!

These are great pictures that capture great memories!
Exactly why I started blogging in the first place – for those memories. 🙂 PJ
awesome, easy to clean bathroom 🙂
Yep – although that sink is really deep, so I have Colter (who is taller) clean it out. 🙂 PJ
What a great post. This was a very fun story to share, thanks for making us smile.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! PJ
Ahh this looks like an amazing memory for your children. I would have had a ton of fun with that, as a child
They really did – as is evidenced by the smiles. 🙂 PJ
They look like they are having a blast! I miss sink baths as a kid. 🙂
I can remember taking them at my grandparents’ house!

That is precious!
They want to do it again. LOL PJ
Way to be resourceful!!
Thanks! Large families – we’re used to making things work. LOL PJ
