Operation No Fingers

Most of our pictures of Jade have her fingers in her mouth like this: Even when we tell her to smile, she smiles around her fingers like this: So, the objective of this photo shoot was to get Jade to willingly remove her fingers from her mouth and smile. Daddy is coaxing and encouraging while […]

Jady Bug

Jade has gotten so big in the past six months. She’s talking really well and expressing herself fully. She had me laughing really hard the other night with something she said. But I need to give you a bit of background first. We have six “House Rules” at the Jonas homestead. The sixth rule is […]

Little Bird Houses

We’ve had a whole bunch of little birdhouses hanging around the barn for several years. Jim decided to let the children each have one. They got to decide where to hang it, and the boys put them up. This one is Hewitt‘s: Don’t you just love Hewitt’s smile? He seems to have forgotten how, and […]

Jade’s Turn

Ok, now it is time for Jade‘s Birthday Celebration Hugs. Indigo first: Then Hewitt: Now Greyden: And Fletcher: Emery had to get fancy: Colter: Brett got a kiss: Mom just got a hug: And Dad just got a snuggle: Even Grandma got in on the tradition: We all had fun. As for Jade, she just […]

Daddy Playground

The Jonases have a special name for nylon pants – the kind that you use for jogging suits. We call them “bubble proof pants”. “Why bubble proof pants?” you ask. I’ll tell you. The children were playing with bubbles one day. Every time the bubbles would touch something – a shirt, a counter, a hand […]

Lunch Time

I had lunch with Indigo and Jade at the airport. There weren’t a lot of options to choose from. Indigo said she wanted pizza so I ordered two slices at Sbarro. When they came I thought to myself, “Hmmmm… probably should have just gotten one.” But you know what? They both ate them except for […]

Child Training

One of the ways we get our house to run is for everyone to pitch in and help with the work – even the youngest children. Sometimes that works really well. Sometimes it just makes more work. One of the easiest jobs for Hewitt, Indigo, and Jade to do is cleaning off the table and loading […]

Disaster Girl

As the eighth child, Jade has a lot more freedom than her older siblings had at her age. Sometimes that’s good. Sometimes that’s bad. Lately it’s been bad. The other day I was cleaning up and discovered this: Do you know what that is? That is the entire contents of my pocketbook in a garbage […]

Teamwork

I love it when the children get along and cooperate. But I have to admit that I love it even MORE when their sharing leads to less housework. So, in this instance, there was only one bowl to wash instead of two: And here there is only one bed to make instead of two: Hmmmm… […]

My Princesses

One of the best memories of our vacation was our Princess Breakfast. It was a special treat for the girls. Brett and Jade really enjoyed it, but it was the most magical for Indigo. Here is a photo of Indigo getting ready: And here are all the girls with Belle: The other princesses that visited […]

Freedom

Jade had an awesome vacation. She was at that age where everything was magical and unexpected. But I have to admit that probably her favorite part was enjoying her freedom. We used Disney transportation for everything which meant… NO CAR SEATS! She just thought that was the greatest.

We’re Home!

We’re back from our awesome Disney Vacation. I’ll post photos later, but wanted to list our favorite moments while it was still fresh. Fletcher: Test track in the dark Indigo: Seeing Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and all them Hewitt: Cars! Fletcher: The Lion King Show Colter: Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach Brett: Blizzard Beach […]

Oh Christmas Tree

Normally we go and chop down our own Christmas tree from our neighbor’s woods. But it has been a rather busy December and a VERY wet one. So we decided we might be better served in just buying a tree this year. We got really smart (it was bound to happen eventually) and got a […]
