Remember when I surprised everyone with a trip to the Red River Gorge?
During that trip, we drove the Hulk:
The Hulk is 8 feet wide by 9.5 feet high by 22 feet long. In other words, it’s huge.
While we explored the Red River Gorge, we discovered the Nada Tunnel. The tunnel was cut out of a mountain by hand in the early 1900’s. It is 12 feet wide by 13 feet high by 900 feet long. It was completed in 1911 after a year digging it out with dynamite, steam drills, and hand tools. One worker died when he tried to thaw frozen dynamite by placing it near a fire (there’s a good homeschool lesson there).
There is room for only one vehicle at a time to drive through, and I was a little nervous about the Hulk getting stuck inside it.
But being intrepid explorers, Jim drove through the tunnel.
It was so creepy that Jim decided we needed to do it again, but this time he wanted me to take a video of it. He had the perfect music in mind for it. Just watch and see:
Creepy, right?!?
