Brett has been having a tough time lately getting Indigo and Jade to help in their room. Indi and Jade are excellent when it comes to trashing the room, but definitely lacking on the cleanup part.

Always resourceful, I saw the three of them working really hard cleaning it up today. Later Jade came to me.

Jade: “Can we paint our nails now?”

Me: “Paint your nails NOW?”

Jade: “Yep.”

Me: “Why now?”

Jade: The room fairy said we could.”

Me: “Who said what?”

Jade: “The room fairy said we could paint our nails if we cleaned our room.”

Me: “BREEEEEETTTTTTTT!”

Brett: “Yes, Mom?”

Me: “Room fairy?!?”

Brett (grinning): “The room fairy told me that if Indigo and Jade cleaned their room they would get a surprise.”

Me: “A surprise?”

Brett: “Yep.”

Indigo: “Yes, Mom. She said that if we cleaned our room that we could have a surprise and then she left us a note and told us since we cleaned our room we could paint our nails. Right, Brett?”

Brett (still grinning): “Yep.”

Jade at this point comes running and hands me a note.

Indigo: “Look Mom, it’s got pixie dust on it, right Brett.”

Brett (grinning wider): “Yep.”

Jade: “So Mom, Can we paint our nails now?”

Indigo: “Please, Mom!”

Me (grinning back at Brett): “Well, if the room fairy says you can, then it’s ok with me. But you have to wait while I get the video camera.”

In case you didn’t catch it all, Indigo knitted her first two washcloths and sold them for $5 each.  She had those bills for less than ten minutes when she spent one of them on purple nail polish. The lady she bought it from painted her nails, and then Jade got her nails painted.   Jade was not going to let Indigo get away with saying this was the first time the purple nail polish had been used when she knew perfectly well it had been used before. LOL
