When we were done playing (and showing off) on the playground, we decided to take a hike. We usually do the 1.5 mile, easy trail. But we had been wanting to take the 2.3 mile, rugged trail that overlooked the Ohio River.
Since it was a good day for showing off, we headed for the rugged one:
Jade wasn’t quite convinced that she wanted to go for a hike:
This photo reminded me of “The Circle of Life” from the Lion King:
Hewitt was terrifying me – can you see his foot sticking out over the edge?:
The girls were much more careful and stayed further back:
Jade enjoyed the trail much more from Daddy’s shoulders:
Indigo enjoyed walking with Aunt Heather since they coordinated so nicely (which Indigo took note of):
Brett and Greyden staring at the river:
The children found (and Hewitt almost stepped on) the biggest preying mantis I had ever seen:
My brother decided to play Tarzan (you’re welcome, Adam, for not posting the one with your belly and boxers showing – I was very tempted):
Crossing the bridge:
Proof that I came along for the hike too:
My young lady:
A cool, old arch in the middle of the trail. We have no idea what this belonged to – you’d think they’d have a sign explaining what it used to be??:
The trail really wasn’t very rugged. There were just a few spots that you had to climb or descend, but the rest was very easy. Still, the girls were tired:
And Jim is such a good Daddy:
I loved this photo. On the left, the two headed monster is Jim with the girls, and my brother is holding my nephew on the right:
We went down by the river for a couple of minutes:
Uncle Adam decided he needed a rest:
Having freed half his body by losing Indigo to a granola bar, Jim found it was quickly taken captive again by Aiden:
Jim and all the kids at the Ohio river overlook:
What a fun day!
Would you mind sharing which park these photos were taken in? We live in Indiana ourselves (suburb of Indy) and I would love to add this park to our one-tank-trip list.
Thank you! 🙂
This was at Charlestown State Park in Charlestown, Indiana. We love it! 🙂
