For any skills I have in craftiness and gifting, I credit my mother. While growing up, she and I spent countless happy hours creating themed gifts for friends and family members. We used items that we had picked up on sale throughout the year, or had discovered in a little gift shop somewhere. I learned a lot about different glues, fabrics, paints, “upcycling” (before it was called that), and considering the usefulness of an item as well as its decorative or artistic appeal.
Now I make soap hundreds of miles away from that workshop, but Mom and Dad still live there, and “Grammy,” as she is now known, is still as crafty as ever. This year she has created a number of gift baskets themed to include her favorite soaps from Goat Milk Stuff. I asked her to send me some pictures to inspire your gift making in the next few weeks. These are just a few of the baskets she made this year.
The Peppermint soap basket is for candy lovers, with old-fashion hard candy, individually wrapped nougats, bark, dark chocolate covered pretzels and some peppermint tea to wash it all down. A pink striped washcloth and a peppermint twist candle. finish it off.
The Frankincense & Myrrh soap basket reminds us of the reason for the season: Jesus’ incarnation. A gold star ornament announces His coming while the angels sing, “The First Noel”. The wise men from the East bring precious gifts of gold, frankincense & myrrh to the newborn King.
The Cranberry Spice soap basket is in a drum box with snowflake coasters, a cranberry bread in a ceramic dish (which is a perfect size for the soap), and two ornaments with cranberry tones.
The Lavender soap basket has a lavender seed-filled sachet, a scrubber, a washcloth and a delicate pair of footie socks, making it nice for a girl.
The Pink Sugary soap basket has a sugar cookie theme with sugar cookie mix, dish towel with recipe, snowman recipe holder, sugar cookie votive, cookie cutters, and lots of sprinkles.
I can’t wait to see what my Mom comes up with next! Doesn’t it make you want to get creative with your own?
What clever ways to give Goat Milk Stuff soap have you created?
That is so special PJ- I know you treasure the time spent making memories with your mom- I will be stealing some of grammy’s ideas for gifts:) So creative and unique-makes people feel so special when you create something with just them in mind.
Jim actually wrote that post! My mom was a mathematician, not a creative bone in her body. LOL PJ
