San Francisco

This summer, Jim and I were flown out to San Francisco by one of our vendors.  We really enjoy having time together just the two of us, but it was strange to be out there without the children.  We got to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Louis Vuitton (prelude to the America’s Cup) races were going on and we were able to see them while we were on Alcatraz.

We did so many other things as well – ate sourdough bread, visited China town, saw the sea lions, visited the wharves, ate seafood, and even visited a goat farm!

It was an amazing trip.  We brought the children home lots of books and puzzles and souvenirs, but we’re definitely going to need to take them back to experience the Bay area first hand!

Have you ever been able to visit the San Francisco area?  What was your favorite part?

  1. I did one better – I lived in San Francisco for over two years in my early twenties. I loved the City so much that I cried when I had to move.

  2. My husband and I lived there for a little over a year a few years ago. It was definitely a step out of our comfort zone as we are from a small town in Northern CA. We grew to love it though, and now it holds a part of my heart. We would purposely get lost on Muni to learn our way around. Our favorite place is Park Chow

    • That’s awesome! I can imagine what a difference that must have been! I love visiting cities, but it would be outside of my comfort zone to move there too. LOL PJ

  3. Lived there while my Dad was serving in the Army as a child. Redwood forests are certainly awesome. Glad you got to see it first hand. Definitely a wonderful place to take the kids.

  4. My husband and I were out to the San Francisco area for the first time last year. My favorite part was seeing the Golden Gate bridge and being on the Fisherman’s Wharves. We watched a person spray painting these awesome pictures. We bought one.

  5. I’ve never been there but this makes me wanna go now! 🙂 looks beautiful and looks like fun!!!!

  6. I was born in Letterman’s Army Hospital in San Francisco. Got to visit there in 1996. Would like to go back and visit again but not live there.

  7. I took a trip to San Francisco in 2001. Driving down Lombard Street was one of my favorite things that we did during our trip. I remember everyone actually driving down the street were tourists and it was crazy just trying to drive down with the amount of traffic on the street at the time. The one place that we didn’t go to, but were supposed to see was Alcatraz.

    • We didn’t actually drive down, we just walked down next to it. Alcatraz is definitely a must if you ever make it back!
