Sneaky Laundry

A couple of weeks ago, I knew that Tuesday was going to be a super busy day for me because I had a bunch of “big” things to do:

  • Ship all the orders (it had been a 3 day weekend, so there were lots!)
  • Make a bunch of lotion sticks and lip balms
  • Prep for my (fourth!) podcast.

Plus I had to do all my normal chores like eating, checking email, cleaning my bedroom, practicing piano, and school (just to name a few).

On Monday night when I realized the next day would be so busy, I started doing as much as I could.  I cleaned my room then took a shower and worked on the computer and my school work.  You can’t really eat for Tuesday on Monday, so that was out.

I also realized that I was in trouble with my laundry.  My day to do my laundry is Friday.  But I hadn’t done my laundry on Friday since I was excited about the three day weekend.  So by Monday night, I was running out of clean clothes.  Unfortunately, by the time I thought about it, it was too late to start my laundry and have my sheets dry in time for bed.

And then I had a great idea.

Each bedroom in our house has a day to do their laundry.  Tuesday is the busiest day because it is for the three middle boys.  Emery, Fletcher, and Greyden all go through a lot of clothes each week.  Since the three of them have to get all their laundry done (including their sheets) before bed, they are very eager to do it.

I knew they often raced to see who could start their laundry first, and my brilliant idea was to make use of that fact.

After waking up Tuesday morning, I added something to my usual morning routine.  Normally I check email, write, do some blog work, then eat before going out to the soaproom by 7:23.  But this Tuesday, I started my laundry before I ate.

So…

When I came in from the soaproom at 8:30, my clothes were in the dryer.

And…

When I came in at 10:15, my clothes were sitting in my room, nice and warm, just waiting for me to fold them.

Clean Laundry

Why?

Because Fletcher was the first boy to start his laundry.  And as he was advancing his load of laundry, he had to advance mine as well.

Brilliant, don’t you think?!
