Most of you know that we’re selling soap at the Pennsylvania Christmas Show:
Across the aisle from us, we get to stare at this:
Actually, Hewitt spends most of his time staring at it like this:
Well, the first day we were at the show, half way through the day, Hewitt comes “crying” to me.
Hewitt: “Mom, Jade scratched my leg.”
Me: “Hewitt, you’re ok.”
Hewitt: “No, Mom, she scratched my leg!”
Me: “Hewitt, you’ll live. Now go play.”
Hewitt: “No, Mom, Jade scratched my leg and now I can’t walk.”
Me: “Hewitt, you can walk just fine. Go play.”
(I still had my voice at this point, so I could talk just fine.)
Hewitt: “No, Mom, Jade scratched my leg and now I can’t walk and the only thing that will make it better is that!”
Insert dramatic hand gesture ending in finger pointing at this:
Me: “Hewitt, you’re not getting the car toy, go play with your own toys.”
Hewitt then proceeded to spend the rest of the day/evening hopping around on one foot.
He really did.
Fast forward to the next day. By this point I had lost my voice and could no longer talk.
Hewitt: “Dad, I can’t walk.”
Jim: “Hewitt, you’re not getting the car toy.” (Yes, Jim had been treated to the hopping the previous day.)
Hewitt: “But Dad, I can only crawl.”
And yep, he spent much of the day crawling:
He really did.
Apparently, our ignoring his hopping/crawling steadfastness as parents sunk in and Hewitt was neither hopping or crawling, but walking around like a normal child. And he wasn’t asking for the car toy either! We won! No junky, plastic cars would be joining our household!
The vendors behind us were selling this:
At one point they were having trouble keeping up with putting them together (screwing on the heads and the poles).
Jim sent Hewitt over to help them and he did a tremendous job:
Such a great job, that they paid him $20.
Three guesses what Hewitt wanted to do with his $20:
But if you’ll recall the sign said:
So…
Hewitt had to wait for the vendor to get back from a break, and then he asked him if he would accept $20 for the car toy.
And the vendor said…
Yes!
After triumphantly returning to the booth with the long awaited for car toy, Hewitt casually strolled by Jim and announced over his shoulder:
“Dad, I can walk now.”
Yep, he really did!
Love your blog and all the antics of the kids! 🙂 Oh, I also loved Jim's rendition of Barry Manilow's "I write the songs…" but in this case soap! Too funny! And of course, I absolutely love your soap and lip balm… can't live without them.
Blessings,
Lisa
Thanks, Lisa – we crack ourselves up sometimes. LOL

I was just introduced to your blog and am about to try your soap. I have a 6 year old son named Fletcher and he has Epidermal Nevus Syndrome and really bad eczema so I'm hoping the purity soap will help him be less itchy. Very excited to try it!
Your family is beautiful!

Hi Denise,
