While we’re selling soap in Pennsylvania, Gretchen is covering the homestead. She’s shipping all the orders, answering the phone, feeding the goats (well, her husband may be doing that), taking care of the kitty cats, and basically being me for the week.
Gretchen has two children – her son is in school, but her daughter gets to come to our house and play with the girls while Gretchen works on soap stuff. Most of the time, they’re princesses.
The first day Abby was here, the girls went around the soap room with their magic wands turning people different colors. They’d bop you on the head and announce, “You’re blue.” or “You’re pink.”
Fortunately we have 3 princess dresses. I believe the girls have put in requests to Grandma for Belle’s dress too since they’ve almost outgrown Sleeping Beauty.
Gretchen said that today, she put Abby to bed in the girls’ bed. When she went in to check on her, Abby had gotten up, put on a princess dress, then climbed back into bed and fallen asleep.
Gretchen also told me that as we were getting ready to leave, she caught Indigo sucking her thumb. Their conversation went like this:
Gretchen: “Indigo, what are you doing?”
Indigo: “Sucking my thumb.”
Gretchen: “But you’re a big girl.”
Indigo: “I’m a big girl that sucks my thumb.”
(What do you think she’d say if I told her princesses don’t suck their thumbs?)
I wonder if they’ll come out with Rapunzel’s dress from Tangled. That one is really pretty and Indigo would love it since it’s purplish.
We’re going to have to lock these girls up when they become teenagers if they get any cuter!
