Fall is our busy time of the year, so we always try to make sure that we take time off to have fun as a family. Last week, I packed us all up and drove to Hardy Lake (actually Jim did the driving).
Hardy Lake is a 700+ acre lake about 25 miles from our house. The whole park area is about 2000+ acres. I’ve been wanting to go there since we moved to Indiana, but we’ve never made the time before. Normally we just go to Charlestown State Park which is less than 10 miles from our house. I’m glad we went after school started, because we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
The kids got to play a bit in the water (they all said it was cold, but not too cold).
Jade got to walk the wall:
Then we hit the swings for a while:
Then we decided to hike a trail:
There was an old cemetary on the trail:
And a big, dead tree:
Colter was loving the hike:
The boys collected nuts (yes, they brought them all home too). I later found a cheese-its box that was full of them (nuts, not cheese-its).
Then we took a rest:
And Jade pretended to be a tree:
And then it was time to go home. The children really wanted to take this road (but we convinced them that would be a bad idea):
We had a lot of fun and the children think we should alternate trips to the park between Charlestown State Park and Hardy Lake. Oh, and they want to do it every day. 😀
