Well, our first set of goats aren’t supposed to be due to kid until March 20th. That’s a full three weeks away. But I’m concerned that Persephone and Misha may have different plans and may have gotten themselves bred in secret a cycle earlier. That would put them due… tomorrow!
Yep, when I’m still at a show. Of course, goats can kid plus or minus five days from their due dates, so if they are due tomorrow, that doesn’t mean they’ll kid tomorrow. And most of our goats like to keep us waiting an agonizingly long time, so we should be ok.
Good thing Grandma is here. (Not quite what she bargained for when she decided to pay us a visit). She’s got instructions to check butts every 2 hours and call me if anything is coming out!
I know, I know, I’m evil for getting a kick out of this.
Here is a photo of Persephone that I took tonight (she’s the fat one on the right):
The poor thing is looking at me as if to say, “Am I done carrying these things yet?”
Sorry, Mish, I know exactly how you feel!
PJ — I wanted to let you know that I love your blog. We have 4 children — 11 year old boy, 7 year old girl, and 5 year old adopted twins, boy & girl. I grew up on a farm in Iowa and envy the life you've been able to achieve. I'm so excited for you — you are very blessed. We are blessed as well — we just don't have the country living you do. We live in a small town (800 people) in Iowa, which is close! 🙂 Blessings on your day!
