Goats In The Winter

I love to see our goats in the winter. They get these furry coats, that make them look like they’ve turned into these bear-type things.  Especially because they’re pregnant and getting chubby.

Their faces get so chubby, and they look super warm. And that is more than anyone else can say in the middle of winter.

The boys hate it when the goats get to stay inside all the time. It means they have to muck out all the straw and hay that Mom insists that they put down. We put down a lot of bedding to help them stay warm.

It looks so cool when the pasture is white, and you can see the trails that the goats have blazed. Goats always prefer to stick to whatever path they have made.

I’m am so glad that we have goats! I like the winter, when they get so chubby and cute. But I love the spring, when baby goats arrive.

And sometimes we even get a late storm and have baby goats and snow!

Having goats is a wonderful experience. All of it. Including…

  1. staying up with them when they are kidding
  2. cleaning out their stall
  3. chasing them when they get loose and try to eat your apple trees
  4. milking them twice a day

And I hope all dairy goat owners would agree with me!
