Busy Mom’s Survival Guide Podcast Episode 011.
Many families today feel trapped by dead end jobs that barely make ends meet.   Even so, there is a perceived safety net in an expected paycheck, and with the struggling economy, any job is better than no job at all.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way.  America is still the Land of Opportunity and with the right mindset and business plan, you can create a business that  not only meets your financial needs, but that can grow and provide a retirement and a future for your family.

Once you have the right mindset, begin to go about it in the right way.  If your dream is a small business, start laying the foundation today.  Use some of the many resources on the web to put together a business plan.  Read lots of business and marketing books.  And mostly, start to dream and dream big!

    Thanks for sharing with us the hard work and rewards of having a small business. Although I don’t have any current plans of starting a small business, I did enjoy the podcast because I prefer shopping with small businesses whenever possible. I’m learning that you get the best items (better for you and many times better prices) when shopping small business. Plus, it helps our local economies. I think the dedication and passion it takes to have your own small business is typically a good sign that people actually believe in what they are selling, and it’s not just mass production to become rich (like many big businesses). I appreciate all your family’s sacrifices and hard work to bring us products that are wonderful! I also enjoyed Jade & Brett on the podcast, today! 🙂 You & Jim are raising great children!!

    Thank you so much for your podcast I have been thinking about starting a small business and have been stressing about how to do it with no money which like you said is next to impossible. Thank you for telling me what I needed to hear. Get out of debt before you start a business is great advice. It is great that you include all of your kids in your business I hope to do the same with my four boys. Again thank you.

      I’m glad that the podcast was helpful to you! There is so much that you can do right now to get ready for starting your business. The best thing is to write a business plan. You’ll learn so much putting one together. You can just google “business plan form” and start answering questions. You’ll be in a much better place to start it having done that!

    • Thanks, John – that’s a great idea! I’m so used to seeing the the time on itunes, I never thought to put it on the blog post. I can easily start to do that.
